Love my HVAC job

A few years ago I had an employee named Ben, but ben was a truly smart guy, but certainly inexperienced.

He didn’t see this as a career, just a task to labor until he found something better.

Much to the surprise of all of us at the dealer, Ben found something much better in the form of one of our shoppers. This certainly rich, and much older, guy, decided he liked Ben. He quit his task on the spot and became a “kept man” for a cougar. Talk about hitting the lottery! This guy had only been an Heating and A/C tech for 2 weeks and he stumbled into being rich and pampered. I didn’t see Ben for a few years, until recently when he came into the shop looking for his seasoned Heating and A/C tech task back. It turns out that Ben was just a passing upscale, and after 5 years the older guy dumped him for an electrician. Ben thought he could just get a up-to-date uniform and go back to being an Heating and A/C tech but that was not the case at all. He had certainly little experience to begin with, and over the last 5 years there had been several amazing advances in Heating and A/C technology. If he wanted to come back to labor for myself and others he needed to take a few Heating and A/C classes at the community college to get caught up. Being an Heating and A/C professional is not like being a fry cook or a bus driver, here the task is regularly evolving, as the people I was with and I try to keep up with the constant updates in Heating and A/C equipment.
